Silk was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Ilkay is the daughter Peter, an educator and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna is awed by her mother's job in the theatre and going to rehearsals. Silk featured in a number of commercials as a child. The year 1997 was the time she graduated with her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Early theater work has included at least two productions with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting by moving to Toronto Canada at the end of November in 1999. Then she moved into Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an Actors Workshop held in Los Angeles in 2007. The couple got engaged in 2009, and married in an official ceremony in December of that year. On April 10, 2011, they renewed their vows during the context of a Jewish ceremony held in Fredericton after she had converted to Judaism.
